Established by Town Meeting in 1970, the Arlington Historical Commission is chartered under the town's by-laws to review and act upon any applications for building permits that involve exterior changes to historically or architecturally significant structures in Arlington.
In addition to administering Title VI, Article 6 of the town's by-laws, we also:
- encourage appropriate maintenance and restoration of the town's historic structures and open spaces
- educate townspeople on the significance of Arlington's architectural landmarks
- provide guidance and advice to property owners
- participate in the management and maintenance of the Whittemore-Robbins House
